Information on the Somerset Youth Town Council can be found below.

At the Town Council Meeting on October 2nd, the Town Council established the Somerset Youth Council, an exciting new opportunity for the Town that seeks to foster community, increase youth engagement, & educate about the local government process. Applications for the inaugural cohort ran from mid-October to just after Thanksgiving. Those applicants nominated to the Youth Council were approved at the December Town Council Meeting on December 4 & they began meeting in January.

The inaugural cohort of the Somerset Youth Town Council:
Ari Peters (Grade 11) - Youth Mayor
Sara Guinand (Grade 10) - Youth Council President
Peter Kumar (Grade 11) - Youth Councilmember
Pierpaolo Baldassari (Grade 10) - Youth Councilmember
Kalman Levitin (Grade 10) - Youth Councilmember
Aubrey Green (Grade 10) - Youth Councilmember
Tabitha Cutler (Grade 9) - Youth Councilmember
Zoe Gibson-Johnson (Grade 9) - Youth Councilmember

This is a chance for Somerset youth to make a real impact on our community, learn about local government, & have a voice in shaping our Town's future.

As members of the Youth Council, students will:
  • Provide valuable insights into the issues that matter to young people in our Town.
  • Learn about local government & how it works from different speakers.
  • Collaborate with other motivated students to tackle important topics.
  • Gain a better understanding of community leadership.
  • Participate in a "mock" Town Council meeting to cap off the experience.

In addition, as the inaugural cohort, students will have the unique opportunity to shape the Somerset Youth Council. They will help decide what issues the Youth Council addresses, its goals, & how it functions. This is a chance to be part of something meaningful & create a lasting impact in our community.
