Week 3: Somerset 361--Wildwood Manor 428
Yet again, Somerset fared well in a very challenging meet. We never seem to race an easy team. Somereset outraced their opponets in many cases, and the team fared much better than was anticipated. The Spartan theme was a lot of fun, and many kids went all out with costumes and spirit.
All Stars and Records
Mark Berry lowered his own record in the 15-18 Free. All Star Times were earned by Grace Reingruber in the 13-14 Breast and Gavin Springer in 11-12 Back and Fly.
Relay Carnival: Somerset: Sixth Place
While the results of the meet were not as good as we had hoped, everyone on the team had fun. The team is thankful that two 8&Unders are in good health after crashing into each other in their Mixed Freestyle Relay. Overall, the meet was a good experience and much fun was had.
Week 2: Somerset 344.5 -- Eldwick 445.5
Somerset came up much better than expected in a very tough meet. Many swimmers improved upon their seed times, mainly due to an emphasis on streamlines and turns by the Somerset Coaches. In the first home meet of the season, several alumni showed up including former coaches Katie Steller and Dario Fuentes.
All Stars and Records
Isaac Sorenson broke the 15-18 IM record, which was previously set by Adam Bookman in 2003. Gavin Springer improved his own record in the 11-12 Butterfly. All Star Times were earned by Rebecca Long in the 9-10 Fly, Shelby Edson in the 11-12 Fly, Grace Reingruber in the 13-14 Breast and by Gavin Springer in 11-12 Back and Fly.
Week 1: Somerset 331 -- Woodcliffe 457
Although Somerset was handily defeated by the Woodcliffe team, Somerset swimmers still had a magnificent meet. Tons of kids dropped time and everyone swam well at the meet. The team cheered hard, swam hard, and finished hard in a very tough meet.
All Stars and Records
Three team records were shattered at this meet. Mark Berry broke the 14 year old 15-18 Freestyle record, previously held by John Knight, and Gavin Springer broke the 11-12 Backstroke and Butterfly records, previously held by Jesse Palchick and Michael Young respectively. Gavin also had All Star times in his Backstroke and Butterfly swims.
