Batting Cage Rules

Failure to comply with these rules will result in the revocation of authorization to use the batting cage.

Registration & Authorization to Use

  1. The Batting Cage may only be used by registered Somerset residents and their guests.
  2. A key to open the Batting Cage storage closet will be issued to a Somerset family upon receipt by the Town of Somerset’s Clerk-Treasurer of the following documents and fees:
  3. (a) a completed Application Form;
    (b) a signed Waiver and Assumption of Risk form; and,
    (c) an annual $5 maintenance fee and a $25 key/security deposit.

  4. Keys may not be copied, given or lent to anyone not registered to use the Batting Cage.
  5. The Batting Cage Committee shall promulgate such rules as is necessary for the effective operation of the Batting Cage.

Use of Batting Cage

  1. Use of the Batting Cage is restricted to residents of the Town who have registered with the Town and are authorized to use the Batting Cage and their guests.
  2. Any person using the Batting Cage who is under fifteen (15) years of age shall be supervised by a resident of the Town who has registered with the Town and is authorized to use the Batting Cage.
  3. Authorized batters sixteen (16) years of age, or older, do not require supervision.
  4. Hours of operation are from 10:00 A.M. to dark.
  5. Use of the Batting Cage is on a first-come, first-served basis.
  6. Batting Cage users must sign the sign-up sheet posted at the Batting Cage and follow the instructions and conditions for usage contained therein.
  7. If people are waiting to use the Batting Cage, use is limited to a half-hour.
  8. During hitting, no more than two persons are allowed in the Batting Cage at one time.
  9. All batters shall wear a helmet of the type and style required for use in BCC Baseball.
  10. The operator of the pitching machine shall remain behind the protective screen when the pitching machine is operating.
  11. After using the Batting Cage, the user shall collect and return the equipment to the storage closet and lock it.

Guests

Town residents registered and authorized to use the Batting Cage may bring guests to use the Batting Cage, subject to the following conditions:

  1. The Town resident registered and authorized to use the Batting Cage shall supervise and accept full responsibility for guests in accordance with these rules;
  2. Any Town resident registered and authorized to use the Batting Cage is responsible for damage caused by and control of any guest(s);
  3. The Chair of the Batting Cage Committee grants approval, based on relevant factors including, at a minimum, safety and the assurance that there will be no undue interference or disturbance in the neighborhood.
