In the earliest days of Somerset, official Town business was actually conducted in individual homes! Usually, this was either the home of the Mayor or the Clerk-Treasurer. Somerset did not have an official Town Hall until 1982 when a storied home on Cumberland Avenue was converted to serve the needs of the Town. Our Town Hall, the seat of the Somerset government, is affectionately known as the Little Red House built in 1902 as a residential home. It was purchased by the Town in 1965 but left unused until 1968 when the Little Red House was used as a schoolhouse for autistic children by the American Foundation for Autistic Children. In 1982, it became the Town Hall. In 1986, the rear edition to the Town Hall was added. To better serve the needs of the community, the Town Hall underwent extensive renovation in 2019 which included installing ties to bind its bulging exterior walls, first-floor offices were updated, & the big meeting room was illuminated by tall windows. In what had been an attic, a new second floor now housed an office for the Mayor, plus a room for the Town's archives. In 2023, the Town Hall was outfitted with solar panels, representative of Somerset's sustainability efforts & environmental stewardship. Located at 4510 Cumberland Avenue on Little Cumberland flanked by Capello Park on one side & the Town's Tennis Courts on the other, it stands as a historic building that aptly serves the historic Town of Somerset.

On the first floor of Town Hall is the Town Manager's Office, the Office Administrator's Office, a kitchen area, & a bathroom. Up a few steps is the Peale-Zeughauser Gallery which serves as our meeting room for Town meetings, space for the Town's art shows, & is rentable for private events by Somerset residents. It is named in honor of former Town Councilmembers Barbra Zeughauser & Franny Peale who oversaw the Town Hall renovation project in 2019. The Gallery also leads out to a small deck. On the second floor is the Judy Frankel Archive Room, named after a former Councilmember, it also serves as the Deputy Town Manager's Office. Also on the second floor is the Mayor's Office, a storage room, & a bathroom.
