In 1906 a Charter was granted by Montgomery County to the early Somerset residents creating the Town of Somerset which than received all the powers & privileges of a body politic & corporate. That Charter, the resulting Code of Ordinances, & the resolutions passed by the Mayor & Town Council collectively not only serve as the founding documents, governing documents, & code of laws of our Town but also displays the priorities & culture of the community.

The Charter is divided into eleven articles:

The Town also has passed many resolutions on a variety of topics such as the environment & diversity, equity, & inclusion.
